03:43 pm - Birdies are fun
You know...once in awhile you see something dumb but funny and cute all at the same time.  Yesterday at work, during lunch break I was eating my sandwich in the lunch room.  The lunch room has these 4 giant windows that go from almost the ceiling to the floor and outside the windows are some shrubs, trees, picnic tables and such.

On one of the shrubs there was a cardinal that was just standing there looking at the window kinda funny.  The next thing I knew it flew straight towards the window and smacked into it with a 'thunk'  .__.;;

My reaction:

So I thought he (since only the males are red, the females are look like this ) must've learned his lesson and would just fly in the other direction right? Wrong.  He kept flying at the window 4 or 5 more times, I didn't know whether to laugh or feel bad for him ^^;;  The poor thing must've been so puzzled as to why he couldn't fly through what looks like empty air lol.  But yeah, I hear sometimes in big cities where they build those really tall skyscrapers that are all glass lots of birds fly into them thinking there's nothing there and then they fall to their deaths because they get dazed from the impact.  That really bites,  those buildings should be banned and I guess what I saw proved that that claim is quite valid.

Oh poor bird! The force and angle of impact can also break their necks. D:

We usually get a couple of birds that die after hitting our windows every year. It's really sad. Some people put silhouettes of a flying hawk on their windows to scare the birds away. I have no idea if this actually works!
