|11:04 pm - 包青天 (Bao Qing Tian) and stuff|
Today just completely threw my schedule off balance, so I didn't even get to finish uploading the 包青天 (Bao Qing Tian) episodes for the next case ~___~ I'm sorry!!!!! I'll have the next case up tomorrow I promise!!
On the good side, I passed my Economics supplemental mid-term (aka the mid-term you take if you completely bombed the first one XD), I got 29/50 XDDDD Go me. And on my Politics of Globalization Essay I got 77%, whew, thought for sure I was gonna bomb that one too lol.
Spent the little time I had tonight making 展昭 (ZhanZhao) icons while listening to songs from 三国演义 (Romance of the Three Kingdoms) XDD I took a bunch of screencaps and went icon crazy, I'll upload some sometime lol.
I'm really on an ancient Chinese tv series binge lately, for some reason watching them calms me down somehow. I mean sure there's the "OMG ZHAOZHAO IS SO CUTE!" fits, but in general, watching these shows that talk about events in history makes me take a step back from the society of today that we're submerged in 24/7 and look at it from a different view. Especially since I live in North America and the whole concepts of how to live your life are completely different than those from ancient China.
It's really too bad that so many of the Asian nations want to "westernize" in every way, because I honestly think there's some really great values we had back then that just doesn't exist anymore thanks to this westernization. It's almost unsettling going back to China and seeing how much people want to be like the west while I'm over here going "omg I love Chinese historical stuff!!". Makes me kinda want to bash my head against the wall that our culture's going down the drain. Going to see Chinese Opera in Beijing, in the theatre-house, every person besides the waiters/waitresses and myself were foreign. Like wtf?? 5000 years of history...hopefully my mom's right and with all those years of history backing the culture, it'll evolve under the influence of western cultures, but it won't dissappear.
[EDIT]: Does anyone know where I can download Chinese calligraphy fonts?? Like you know how you can download all sorts of different fonts for the English alphabet? Is there a site to download font types for Chinese characters? I know it'd be a pain for someone to make a set of Chinese character fonts seeing as there's a few thousand characters -__-;; But I really wanna get a set in calligraphy style for icons and wallpapers and such. Thanks~!

Well,1st of all, congrats on the passing of your exams (mengya, one word, effort!!!)but regardless,a great job nevertheless. And in response to the culture topic,I agree-its a shame that such an illustrious and beautiful culture such as the Chinese have is threatened by globalization and Western ideals.I mean, nowadays, everything is westernized-it must be refreshing for you to go to China and see such a preserved and rare glimpse of a vanishing past.Take care-James
