|01:10 am - Mengya wants a horse|
Somehow, I started googling horses tonight when I should have been studying -_- but it's made me want to buy a horse more than ever!! I've always loved horses, they're so elegant and just gorgeous, plus riding them is so much fun (once you get used to the bouncing up and down @.@). But after looking at the prices, I seriously think once I get my own place I'm going to buy 1 or 2 horses, it's been like a lifelong dream! So, starting with the basics, anyone want to give me a list of horse terms and common facts XD? What's a gelding? How long do horses usually live in human years? and what should I look for when buying a horse? I don't need one for shows or anything, just for the once in awhile leisure ride =^-^=

ps, I've had horses my whole life, dear. You could've just poked :P I'll be on MSN sometime tomorrow mebbe >.>
XDDDD Whoa thanks for the quick reply, I had a feeling you'd be one of the first if not THE first since you mentioned your horse once in a post or something. I'm just fleetingly surfing right now, have to at least get out of school first and get a job, then find a place to settle down that's going to need some space if I get a horse, so that'll take awhile. It won't be for another few years at the very least XD But when the time comes I'll definitely be taking advantage of your expertise!!
gelding - fixed male horse
lifespan - 40yrs approx and if taken care of prop.
what to look for - an older horse thats mild and well trained would be good. but i suggest bringing someone with u that knows about horses to come with u (thats what i did)
horse sellers some of them are scam artist's. so be careful. i almost had a horse, but it turned out not being sound (something wrong with it) so right now all i'm doing is horseback riding ^^ i luv it. course i had 2 riding accidents each with a compress fracture of the spine ^^ but i still luv it.
done english riding (don't reccommend unless you want to go into the sport)
western (highly reccommend ^^)
i done both of those and i really liked western ^^ orif you want to try something really fun lol harness training is kewl ^^ i did it a few times, when i went with my friends (they owned a harness horse) but they moved away. T-T
i havn't been riding since my accident. but i'm planning on taking it up again, in pakenham ^^ this summer well i'm hoping lol *crosses fingers*
oh well enough babble ^^ good luck and i hope this helps out a bit ^^"
