10:29 pm - Takarazuka's Gu Bijin

Just finished watching my Gu Bijin DVD

It was the first show of Matobu Sei I've seen and I really, really like it.  The story is set in 3rd Cent.  B.C. in China, centering around Xiang Yu and Liu Bang and Xiang Yu's favourite concubine, Yu Ji who was known for her beauty ("Bijin" in the title literally means 'beautiful person' in this case referring to Yu Ji).  For those that know the Chinese story Farewell My Concubine (霸王别姬), the ending of Gu Bijin includes that part of the story as well (though squished into like...5 minutes).

I really like Sou Kazuho's performance as Liu Bang and found myself looking forward to her appearance everytime.  I also thought Aine Harei as Han Xin looks a lot like Haruno Sumire when she was made up O__o;;  Maybe it was just a fluke, I'll have to watch her in another show to see if my eyes are playing tricks on my or not.

Anyway, really enjoyed the show and happy that I bought the DVD.  Now I'm looking forward even more to going to see Matobu Sei in person in December :D

Some pictures from the show here, if you want to see :)
