|11:58 am - GOT A JOB!! HOMG!!|
I think I'm still in shock, but I finally got a job!! After 2 weeks of frantic searching I finally found one :D!!
Now the newest dilemma, this job is in a great environment, when I went in for the interview everyone was so friendly and nice, the pay's also good but it's not with the government. Tomorrow I have an interview for another job that's with the Department of National Defence, and I don't know when exactly the final decisions for that position will be made even if I get accepted in the end, but it's with the government so it might look more appealing on my resume. What to do...accept the first job immediately, or try and wait out for the second one? I'm leaning towards the first option...I mean by this point I just want a job so I can pay my bills and put my mind at ease, and while working for the DND sounds awesome I don't have a good grasp on whether I'll even get the position or not. I'll make my decision tomorrow after my interview with the DND but ooh, when it rains it apparently pours (in a good way though, lol).
Thanks to everyone who gave me so much encouragement in my previous posts whining about the pains of job hunting. It really helped keep me determined and motivated to keep at it, and it paid off in the end :D Thanks again you guys! Love you all~

Are you still coming to Japan? If so, do you know where you're going to be yet?
Yes, I'll still be heading over there, probably in September. I'm waiting to get my diploma which will be sometime in late June so that AEON can start helping me apply for my VISA, then after I get my VISA I'll know the exact date I'll be leaving for Japan and which city I'm going to :D
You're going with JET right? When and where will you be going??
I'm waiting on my placement now, which should be coming through at the end of the month from my Board of Education -- wherever that is. As for leaving, I'm outta here on August 1st. And yup, with JET. Hopefully I won't be too far in the middle of nowhere! We'll have to meet up sometime!
I tried for a summer job too, but absolutely nothing! With ten weeks left, there isn't really any point in me getting a job now. So, definitely a big CONGRATS! (おめでとう！) for you!
We definitely have to meet up in Japan!! I can't believe I'm actually going, I'm so excited! I'm frantically trying to memorize all those hiragana and katakana characters you wrote for me in that little notebook a few years back, lol, and I borrowed another friend's beginner Japanese textbook trying to learn at least a few basic phrases XD
Ugh, jobs are so hard to find these days, in Ottawa too. I bitched about it in my previous post and from the comments I got I think a lot of people are feeling the pinch. I'm super ecstatic I found this job so I can make some money to pay rent and bills along with saving up a bit for my trip over to Japan. I hope by the time I get finished my teaching in Japan be it in a year or a few years and am ready to come back the economy will be out of the slump and with my experience abroad it'll make finding another job here easier.
Do you know what grades you'll be teaching or anything? I'm not sure how JET works, do you get assigned a particular class or is it all levels of English classes? Keep me updated on how things go on your end, and I'll let you know as soon as I have an update on my side too so we can arrange to hang out over there :D
Just sent out the reference email!
