 | 07:32 pm - Dooms-week looming. Good evening everyone~ Just wanted to stick a quick update here to let people know I'm alive and well since I know a few people check my blog just to ensure I'm still alive and breathing lol.
But since I'm here, let me give you a run down of what my week before reading/slack week is going to entail:
Monday, Feb. 11th: Volunteer at MP office all day
Tuesday, Feb. 12th: 8:30am-10am - SOC 2304 class 11:30am-4pm - working as scrutinizer for SFUO (Student Federation at University of Ottawa) elections 4pm-5:30pm - HIS 2181 class 5:30pm-7:30pm - working as scrutinizer
Wednesday, Feb. 13th: 10am-2:30pm - various classes 2:30pm-7:30pm - working as scrutinizer
Thursday, Feb. 14th: 9:30am-2:30pm - working as scrutinizer 2:30pm-8:30pm - various classes
Friday, Feb. 15th: 8:30am-1pm - various classes Rest of the afternoon - volunteering at MP office
I wouldn't be so exasperated if I didn't have 2 or 3 mid-term exams that week on top of a presentation on the 14th in one of my classes. I think what I'm going to have to do is do all my studying this coming week, and come the week of the 11th just race through everything. The good news is that the following week (Feb. 18th) is reading week so no classes, and I can just kind of crash. Also the fact that the scrutinizer work is paid helps the motivation factor XDD
This coming Thursday is Chinese New Years though I think I'm going to have to save celebration plans until reading week, and Wednesday night Stephen Lewis is giving a presentation at the Ottawa Congress Centre which I can't wait to go hear. I've only seen a documentary from one of his many trips to Africa and even through the movie camera I could feel the sincerity and dedication he has towards his work.

Yeah, busy as a beaver x__X Good thing it's only for a week, if that kind of schedule kept up I think I might just dive under my blankets and go into hibernation lol. Did you go to the NGO fair today? I was really dissapointed with it, thought there would be more agencies or least it would be busier! It was quite dead, which is sad, >_> No, there was an NGO fair?! Was it at the campus?? I was volunteering all afternoon at the MP's office, her assistant had me help draft the first copy of a motion that might get presented to the House of Commons in the coming weeks O____o
Are you going to the Stephen Lewis presentation on Wednesday night? If you are we can go together if you want~ Maybe meet somewhere on campus and head to the Congress Centre together, I find I have more fun at events if I'm with at least one other person I know lol. yup, there was one at the uni center for most of the day, but I can see why you'd have missed it, XD!
Is that the one where we have to buy tickets? Honestly I didn't plan to go, but I could be pursaded otherwise, ~_^. I was going to the educating global citizens lecture happening earlier in the day . . . ? Ah yeah, tomorrow's full of events since it's International Development Week. Yeah you have to buy tickets for the Stephen Lewis event, it's 12 bucks for students and you can get tickets at the SFUO office. I learned today that the MP I volunteer for is also attending the event tomorrow, so I'm guessing there'll be quite a few...distinguished guests in the audience shall we say? XDD
I don't think the lecture itself will provide much new info. I mean, let's face it, this issue/topic's been drilled into us time and again in just about every POL and DVM course, but I mean, come on...Stephen Lewis...the guy himself is worth 12 bucks just to see in person XDD
Anyway, if you decide to come let me know and we'll set up a time and place to meet so we can go together :DD apparently it's sold out, so it's a no for me, XD! Unless there's scalpers! It actually got sold out?! O___o Whoa...
I wiki-ed him this morning and learned his daughter-in-law's actually Naomi Klein, holy geez, a family of activists, Thanksgivings must be interesting at that household XD And apparently he used to be leader of NDP but when he was in university he almost flunked out because he skipped all of his exams O____o;; That's hilarious, but I do thoroughly enjoy that idea...
