|03:45 am - Procrastination pushed to the limits, thanks 'Zuka!!|
Hmm...so apparently Mengya (for the new friends on my f-list, that's me, my real name :D) likes playing with fire and gambling with her grades on the line. This wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't paying over $600 for each course (not to mention the time
wasted spent going to lectures and all such things). What's the newest gamble?
Due at 8:30am (aka in 4 hours and 40 min):
a) 5-source annotated bibliography for "ANT/SOC 3331: Anthropological and Sociological Perspectives of Development" (worth 15% of final mark in that class)
b) 3500 words/11-12 pages term paper for "POL 3111: International Organizations"(worth 40% of final mark in that class)
Progress on each paper:
a) Listening to Takarazuka (been doing that since...10pm last night)
b) Experimenting with make-up to try for that 'Zuka on-stage look (been at that a few hours now too)
c) Dancing around to 'Zuka music (though with volume turned down low so as not to piss off my roomies, been at this on and off all night as well, leg muscles permitting)
-> yes I look like a moron trying to twirl around my room
-> no I've never taken any dance lessons of any type (hence why I look like a moron)
-> yes I crash into my bed/bookshelf/desk/wall/chair/rabbit cage/floor lamp every so often
d) Trying to decide what to eat on my planned outting with some friends this coming weekend
e) Refreshing my f-page every 5 minutes looking for interesting updates to help in the task of further putting off doing school work (a permanent condition for me it seems)
f) Updating my journal
g) Toying with the idea of sending my profs emails telling them I can't make it to class due to personal/family emergencies and hence will need to hand in the papers tomorrow (I always play with this idea whenever assignments/projects/papers are due, until my brain catches up and realizes I'd still have to do it and plus I'm too lazy to think up an excuse and write up the email)
I'm good, I'm really good at this procrastinating thing...and getting better. My last record was a 10 page term paper for "HIS 2153: American History" in 4 hours, I'm pushing the envelope on this one I think...heh. Just need to make it through today with these 2 papers, tomorrow with my French exam and Friday with my ANT/SOC 3331 exam and then I can have a week to relax and breathe...just 3 days...3 days...3 days...3...ooh shinies *O*
(F-locking this entry for sure, last thing I want is the mom finding out I'm playing with over $1200 of her money whilst wasting my time.)
[EDIT1]: Time is now 4:50am, I now have my bibliography done. Yay. Oh btw, I forgot to mention, on that history paper I spent 4 hours on, I got an 'A' on it...is it really such a big wonder why I'm not super-motivated to spend weeks upon weeks and hours upon hours to work on these things?
Now to go b/s 11-12 pages (double spaced) about the role of international organizations in post-conflict reconstruction, stick in a few citations, and I'll be set.
[EDIT2]: Time is now 2:50pm, I've finished all my classes. I finished the POL paper with half an hour to spare. Crappiest paper ever, I swear, and this time I mean CRAPPY. I've wrote some unbelievably sh*tty stuff before and managed to sneak by, but this time I'm actually on edge as to whether that paper's going to make it over the 50% mark.
As for the bibliography, I re-read the guideline for it and it turns out there were some things I didn't do, so at the last minute I decided to skip that class, work on the thing some more tonight and hand it in tomorrow. I'll lose some marks for it, but I figured it's only 15% of the total mark, plus I only lose half a grade (ie. if it's a 'B' it gets knocked down to a 'B-', if it's a 'B-' it gets knocked to a 'C+', etc., etc.).
Well at least now I know, 8:30am class, at the latest start working on any papers at 12am (preferably start working on it the day the outline gets handed out...but let's be realistic here). Giving myself 4 hours is pushing it, especially when theres not one but TWO papers/assignments to write. I've learned my lesson...maybe. Everytime around term-paper deadline season I feel like it's Remembrance Day, all these "NEVER AGAIN!" promises swirling around in my head, then as soon as the paper gets handed in the promises fly out the brain and into the nearest garbage chute.
Thanks for everyone's encouragement/sympathy/sharing of similar stories, makes me feel 110% better knowing I'm not the only one burning the midnight oil this season XD
D: I thought 8 pages sucked, but then again art kids don't like writing term papers.
