|02:32 pm - Rumsfeld steps down|
OMG FINALLY!! Rumsfeld steps down from the Pentagon!!! Ah been waiting for this day since the Iraq war started, finally finally finally finally finally *rejoices* Not that I think the new dude, whoever it may be in the end, will be any more altruistic and ethical, but at least we get some new faces instead of consistently bitching at the old ones.
[EDIT]: Politicians have the best quotes *snicker* Here's a few from D. Rumsfeld I found on BBC's site, see if you can follow his train of though:
"Reports that say that something hasn't happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns - the ones we don't know we don't know."
"We know where they [Iraq's WMD] are. They're in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south, and north somewhat."
"[Osama bin Laden is] either alive and well or alive and not too well or not alive."

It's about time...though Rumsfeld "resigned" the New York Times suggest that Bush pressured him to leave after the results of the elections sent him the clear message that the Americans are fed up with the War in Iraq BS. Its funny that this all happening so fast; In October 24/06 editorial of the New York Times, they devised a five initiative strategy for resolving the Iraq issue: one of them was to get the Secretary of Defence out! Ironic, eh? Also, after Pelosi saw her imminent attainment of the House speaker, she told Bush that he should consider firing Rumsfeld; its a good thing Bush used his brain for a change! Hope your enjoying your day, I sure am!-James
