|10:08 am - Lemmings, lemmings, lemmings|
Lemmings, lemmings, everywhere I look I see lemming herds, and even I've become a member. Some follow that gothic lemming herd (form now on known simply as LH), others follow the Hollywood celebrity LH, those that follow the reality tv LH, this LH that LH, I'm sick of it.
Which LH am I in? The Tenimyu LH, the Kato Kazuki LH, and it pisses me off. I want to say that following these ones are different than those members in the Hollywood LH who scramble for the latest magazine with their fave celebrity in it and run to the nearest store to pick up the same brand of make up that their worshiped celeb uses, but let's face reality here, it's not. As much of a fangirl I am over Kazuki, I refuse to become a mindless one, and recently I was just on the edge of becoming one.
Yes I love you dearly my boy, but not enough to spill out my pockets in order to line your's. I worked hard for my money, and with having to pay tuition, rent, food, text books, and other living expenses, I'm not about to toss it for a book with some photos of you in it which is probably going to just sit on my shelf and collect dust anyway after the first flip-through. No matter who you are, I still don't think it's fair or right that for singing a few songs you get to grab a couple million bucks. For posing for a few pictures, you get paid a couple thousand.
I'm NOT a mindless lemming and I'm not going to become one. I've had my close calls, and there'll probably be more close calls in the future, but as the rest of you lemmings follow one another and jump over that cliff to plunge to your fate, I choose to dictate my own destiny. This little lemming has a brain and she has decided that as much of a fun-sapper as it will be, she's going to use it. For the rest of you, have fun watching your bank accounts dwindle and their bank accounts soar because "omg you have to support the artist!!" (go support a starving child in Ethiopia if you're all so eager to support someone >P).

As much as I agree on the mindless fan actions, I do have to say that it is important to support artists. I'm not talking about the big huge megastars that are wallowing in bling, but small artists that are just starting out. I tend to download a whole lot of music, but I try to make a point of buying CDs from bands and artists that are just starting out. Just my 2 cents.

well it depends~
I will always support indie artists!!
because then I get their merch out of it
whereas if i support a starving child in ethiopia i don't get anything except the satisfaction that i helped someone
and i'm just not that nice, sorry (*says the person who can't feel any type of sympathy for people she doesn't know personally*)
and honestly i don't think idols in japan make that much money, doesn't most of it go to their agencies or something?
For Kauzki personally, I think it was during his Valentines Event the MC mentioned he became a billionaire overnight, even if that "billionaire" was in yen, that's still a lot of money...more than anyone should be having in their banks when there's people starving. I don't think they're as poor as we make them out to be.
btw, what are indie artists??

indie artists are artists that haven't been signed up by a major record company ^u^ so they release their stuff using their own resources

I appreciate your noble attempt to run away from the LH, but you see... there is also an LH for those who want to escape these frames of 'herd'. that come partially from the sheer amount of humans, and mostly from the human-trade of 'following the herd'.
I do agree on the account of disliking the more... trashy kinds of LH, and I regret to say that I too was once one of those. thank GOD for brain capacity (as small as it may be, it's bigger than theirs, I believe).

OMG is this the end of yor obsessions? I'm glad you're getting out of that kind of mentality, it's not healthy. I think its fine to have interests and sometimes they borderline obsession but that's as far as it can be taken. I'm glad your socailly conscious mind is getting the best of you. Way to go!-James
No, not the end, I still love Kazuki, but that's the end of my "omg should I get his photobook/Cd/what-not or should I save the money for tuition??????!!". The ability to look at his picture and not go "guuuuuuuuh marry meeee!!" is a bit harder to conquer I'm afraid as I have to fight against my own hormones on that issue, whereas the LH issue is going against societal norm (which is something I'm used to XDD).
No matter who you are, I still don't think it's fair or right that for singing a few songs you get to grab a couple million bucks. For posing for a few pictures, you get paid a couple thousand.
I can see what you're saying. But man, unfairness like that is everywhere in the world. There will always be the extreme rich and extreme poor. Some people work harder than others but get paid less. We are born into different families...etc. It will never be equal. I don't have the ability to change that. So I'm just gonna buy the things I like, within my ability.
If I ever become rich (like say Kato Kazuki XD), I'll probably donate to Africa.
But right now with the little money I have, the stuff I like are more important. I admit it is selfish, I can't help it.
