02:24 pm - ¹§Ï²·¢²Æ!! Or in English HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!
That's right people! It's Chinese New Year!!! (Well it's technically tomorrow, but start celebrating peeps~!!) Wow another year's gone by eh? I'm so envious of my relatives in China, they got the whole week off to celebrate!!! But at least it fell on a Sat/Sun so I don't have to suffer in class through my New Years . Make sure to eat lots and wear lots of red ok?! Red is a lucky colour, so red, red, red everywhere~!!!

So, can you guess by that pic who's year it is?? SHIGURE!!! We're celebrating year of the DOG!! It's finally time for our darling, procrastinating novelist to shine~ !! So be extra nice to your puppies this year ok?

Typically, on the eve of Chinese New Years, the whole family will get together to make dumplings, even the kids like to help out!! I know I used to when I was in China, of course being so young back then (I left China when I was 6) my dumplings always came out a little more demented than my mom, dad, aunts, uncles, and grandparents'. Often, you'd put a coin inside random dumplings, and whoever gets one it means they're gonna have extra good luck that year, especially with money!! But I remember everytime I got one, I wasn't prepared and didn't eat carefully so it always hurt my teeth really bad XDDD

And while making the dumplings, you'd have the tv on watching the New Year's performance. It's a show that's put on every year from the afternoon of New Year's Eve right into the morning of New Year's day!! Several hours of singing, dancing, skits, comedy that's broadcasted throughout the nation!! A lot of people overseas can watch it too if they have a little satellite. Ah I wish I can watch it this year~!! Just the whole atmosphere when watching the performances makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside and it always always makes me feel prouder than ever to be Chinese.

So~! ¹§Ï²·¢²Æ!! (prounounced "gong xi fa cai" with a 's' sound on the 'x' and the 'c') meaning basically "Congratulations and hope you get rich!!" (.....that sounds so much better in Chinese than when translated ).
