Two bits of world news to share.

1)  Another college shooting down in the states, this time killing 33 people.  These things seem to be happening more often recently, what's people got against students??  We're just trying to learn something, sheesh.  If you're going to go on a trigger-happy rampage go shoot some politicians instead.

2)  For anyone following the issues in Darfur, Sudan, the Sudanese government has finally consented to allowing UN troops into the country.  Hopefully this will be the first step in at least stabilizing the situation in that country.  This never would have happened if people around the world hadn't kept pressuring the Sudanese government through various means, keep it up guys, this is what democracy's about!!

You must follow the BBC (lol I do too), b/c they offer comprehensive coverage of news (ie. Darfur crisis) that other media doesn't. The shooting in Virginia reminds of what happened here at Dawson-I feel so full of pain-I mean it reminds me of that day when I was on the metro line and they closed it, we had to evacuate to the nearest office tower. What I'm shocked about is that the time between the 1st and 2nd shootings (when most of the people were killed) was 2hrs! I mean, how come the campus wasn't notified? Within minutes of Dawson, the most populous and busiest part of Montreal (Sherbrooke & de Maisonneuve) were shut down in less than 20minutes! These streets are huge, and if you'd ever seen them, you'd understand that shutting them down on a weekday (or any day for that matter) is a seemingly impossible task! This shooting took place in small town America, with a campus police service and notification of what happened in the first shooting! That aside, another day, another killing (killings, said appropriately). What are we coming to? I guess the grieving begins all over again. Stay in good spirits-James

As a light sidenote (in comparison to the topics of discussion...), I clicked on the links you provided to the stories. I guess I answered my own question about your sources, no?-James

Yeah I have a BBC and CBC newsfeed on my Firefox bookmarks toolbar, so when I'm busy I can just click and scan the headlines. Once in awhile I check Fox news for a good laugh hehe, or if I feel like brushing up on my swear words. Actually I just watched a documentary today called Orwell Rolls in His Grave (downloaded it) and it talks about the issue of media bias in America, very interesting. I can upload it for you if you want to see it.

*whistles*

Damn... I'm not trying to sound sacrastic but, it does seem the US has a histoty of violent shootings at school na?

*thoughtful* While, the "best" thing would to be changing the gun laws, however by saying then creates more problems. :/ As it isn't against the law in American to own guns. Something to do with Declaration of Independence...(if my knowledge of American history is correct)

ALthough I know what you mean *smiles grimly* The only shooting to happen round here was at a uni too. It would have been better for politicians to die. :/

Omg...about time too. Its kinda pathetic sometimes when governments wage their own private wars without understanding the impact it will have on the people.

Yeah the Constitution has all these "Everyone has the freedom to blahblahblah" (Or were they the amendments.... mygosh, I don't understand the system at all even after all that US history... T_T Oh, here we go: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right_to_bear_arms#United_States_of_America ) One of them is the "right to bear arms."

Many people, I think, believe it should be at least harder to get guns. Borat~~ xD

There's messed up stuff that happens in every country.

Ah..yes thats it the right to arms...^^;; I'm getting rusting on my history D: But yeah. It seems was placed there because they beleived what brought their freedom was the use of guns. :/ kinda ironic..at the same time...

Hahaha.. have let to see it. Was it good as people say? xD

Ah I know what you *nods glumly and thinks of the situation at home* Stupid government...

I heard from one of my politics profs that the USA amendment to allow citizens the right to bear arms in America was put into place for fear that Communism or a dictator would over-take the country in the future. This way citizens will have the arms necessary to rebel, but I mean, to me Bush isn't that different from any dictator, and I don't see Americans taking advantage of that right in order to toss him out of the White House.
