10:22 am - One exam down, 4 more to go!
I don't know whether to love or hate situations where you study your ass off in preparation for something (in this case an exam), and it turns out to be easy as pie and only about 20% of what you studied was on the exam.  A 2 hour exam, and people were getting done 1 hour into it.  Out of all those verb conjugations I banged into my brain, the only one tested was subjonction and present indicatif (which is like...normal conjugations and easiest of them all).  The rest of the exam consisted of;
a) reading an article and answering some questions on it and then writing a 5-sentence summary of the article
b) listen to a 5-minute tv program broadcasting and then circling which choice is the correct answer according to the program (incidentally, the program, although short was gruesome, thanks a lot prof, way to start the day on a cheerful note XDD)

Wow...I really stayed up all night for nothing....=D  Ordering Chinese delivery tonight to celebrate surviving French class!!!  I really hate exams, not just because of the stress and everything, but I mean, on one hand, I understand the need for teachers to give a final mark and the only way they can give that mark is by knowing how much you've learned in class, and exams are one of the easiest ways to test that.  But I mean, 1) exams don't always test what you've learned to the fullest capabilities and b) with exams, everything becomes a scramble to obtain a number.  At the beginning of the year, when things were more relaxed, I would come back from class and be like "well that was interesting, let's google it up and see what else I can find on it".  By November it became "ok, memorize this, it's going to be on the exam, memorize, memorize, memorize", the whole concept changes.

Anyway, 1 down, 4 more to go.  Next one is Chinese next week, easy as pie (and our prof for that class is so cool!  She's been all over the world and seems to have worked with a ton of different organizations =*o*=  Major admiration).

Congrats! Glad to hear it went well. I'm experiencing the same thing in my spanish comp class (I don't know how to write fully in my own language!)so I can totally relate!It's crazy, and I totally agree with you on the fact that we barely know english grammar, more the less any other language's grammar!Good luck on Chinese!-Love James
