06:59 pm - So much for freedom of expression.
A bus driver got fired for giving the finger to the President of the good old US of A.  Pretty soon the concentration camps are going to start getting built.  Freedom of speech, freedom of expression, my fucking ass.  You so much as breath the wrong way these days down south and they send you to the slammer.  What a disgusting country the USA's become, good thing my mom decided to move to Canada, I think I might just vomit blood if I still lived down there.  At least under other political regimes one knows that propaganda and state-control on personal expressions exist, over here they stick up the flag of freedom and democracy, so they can catch you when you're off-guard.  Fuck you Bush, if I ever get within eyesight of you I'd be doing a hell a lot more than just sticking a simple finger your way.

Freedom of expression? Are you really that stupid? She was a school driver on a bus with kids. You must be unemployed if you think an employer has to put up with that.

So instead kids should be brainwashed to think whoever's in the position of a president must be good and right and no one should be allowed to go against him right? FUCK YOU RETARD!! THIS IS EXACTLY WHY YOUR COUNTRY IS MESSED UP!!!

Fuck you, don't drag our name through the mud with your bastard government. Canada may be close to you in many aspects, but we're Canada, and we'll always be Canada, never America. Typical self-centred American thinking, that you're the centre of the freaking universe.

There will be no merge fucktard. You guys have a presidential system, we have a parliamentary system. You guys emphasize capitalism, we have values in socialism as well as capitalism. You guys have Republic vs. Democrat, we have Conservative vs. Liberal wherein Liberal is seen as Communism in the USA. Do some reading and learning before opening your dipshit mouth.

And on second thought, do you really think such drastic measures would've been taken if the driver had simply flipped the bird to a random civilian? Huh?! Where's the equality in your country huh?! Where's the fairness? So what they're children? Children don't have to right to be taught that different people have different opinions? Is that it? Oh I get it, children have to be dumbed down and sheltered to think everyone's all nice and fluffy with each other right? That the dude in charge of the country they live in isn't some moronic bastard who takes almost half of every dollar you guys pay in taxes to make weapons used to kill civilians in other countries right? 400 billion a year spent on the military, if you guys used even half that amount on some fucking social programs you'd easily have free health care and education for every single American living on American soil, instead it's spent to destroy, kill, murder, and annihilate.

If you don't like kids knowing that there's wars going on in the world, then fucking stop creating wars. If you don't want the kids to know your president's an asshole, then elect someone with half an ounce of a brain. If you don't want the kids to know that so much hatred and stupidity exists, then fucking stop initiating it and learn something. Who the fuck came up with this idea that instead of changing truth and reality into something we can proudly show to our kids, we hide the ugly reality behind a curtain of nice words?? How disgusting that parents can preach to their children to be truthful and honest when they're the first ones lying and deceiving the kids in the first place. How nasty is a system that claims to be based on justice and truth when it hides that very truth from its own people.

I don't understand this thinking that we have to shelter kids from reality. Why? If you guys hate reality so much that it must be shielded from them then fucking change it. I was blind to the fact that there are wars going on on this planet for more than 10 fucking years. Right up until 9/11 I actually thought this world was in an era of international peace. That's the fucking end result of all the stupid sheltering. And now that I know the truth, I hate this world AND all the adults even more for keeping that ugly part of the world from me. How dare they fucking teach us to be nice and shit when behind our backs they've been killing and committing genocide after massacre?! How dare they even have the face to lecture US on what's right and wrong?!

I think you're missing the point sweetie. =\ A lot of parents don't want their kids exposed to inappropriate actions like that. As the article said, they saw the position of bus driver as being like that of a role model(of course, there're a lot of shitty bus drivers out there...)

As you said in the above reply, yes, I do actually think the driver would have gotten fired had she done it to any citizen. Like the article says.

I think you're taking this WAY too far also. She got fired for an obscene gesture. Not because it was directed at the president, but because it was done in front of children during her job. You're taking it out of context simply because the president was involved.

Seriously, sweetie, calm down. =X

I still disagree, why should kids get sheltered to that extent? They can watch the news to see people getting blown up in Israel but can't handle a middle finger stuck in the direction of the president? Precisely because the entire system of educating kids these days doesn't match what's going on with reality that there's so much psychological disorders over here. I think the last national survey in Canada was 1/3 people have some type of psychological disorder, fucking jesus christ, why don't we dump the whole country into an asylum on those numbers? Or, maybe, we can just start teaching them what reality really is like instead of shielding them for a decade then BOOM! Welcome to the real world!!

Parents generally don't like their kids to see that kind of stuff. Let me just say that I'm not defending that kind of opinion because I don't personally agree with it, but that's just the way parents usually are. Parents don't want to have their kids exposed to sex/violence/obscenities, and those parents don't let them watch that news stuff and they certainly would never expect a bus driver to behave like that. Furthermore, not only was it in front of kids, but while she was doing her job. It's a professional situation and obscenities are most definitely unprofessional.

I'm confused about your psychological disorder reference. What are you saying about it exactly?

I'm saying that a large part of all this psychological disorder craze springing up these recent years is due to the fact that what we teach the kids don't match with what's happening with reality. Of course there's a slew of other reasons, such as we now categorize behaviours that historically might have been labelled as slightly strange, but nonetheless normal, psychological problems, the arguably heavier pressures of society etc. etc. But a large part is due in part to the fact that the happy-happy-joy-joy world the kids are taught is not the way things are.

Looking at the world through my eyes today, one would never believe that up until grade 9 I was under the impression we had actually achieved world peace, and all the wars read about in history text books were, just that, history. Hence why throughout grades 10 and 11, I went through major depression because I despised this world, the real world that I didn't know about, but I couldn't escape it because, well, it's the real world, where would I escape to?

Same with schools. Through elementary school and high school, learning's a breeze. From kindergarten you're taught what? That learning's fun, that it's a game, all through the kiddie years going to school meant finger-painting and fun stuff. Then you hit university and BAM they knock you on your ass with OMG WORK!!! Dear lord!! Look at that!! Learning's not all about fun! There's WORK INVOVLED!! Look at other cultures like Japan or China, what are those kids taught? School is about work. Fun? That's for when you're with friends. You're in school, you learn, learning is hard, you have to study, you have to work at it. I don't condone the insane way they dish out homework and put all the emphasis on grades, but it shows a fundamental difference in culture and societal values of how to bring up kids.

Kids need to be protected physically because they're not strong enough to defend themselves, true. That's what mothers and fathers are for. That's how it works in nature. Some things, kids need to be eased into emotionally and mentally because their brains are not biologically as developed to take in the same type of information as an adult's nor process it in the same way. However, that doesn't mean you shove away all the "bad" stuff in the world and deceive them with a make-believe world that sooner or later they're going to discover is false. That's the worst thing you can do to a child. The pain of realizing one day when for more than 10 years you thought everyone was a "nice" person that this world is full of controversy and hate is suffocating.

And if parents and adults spend half as much time trying to shelter their kids from the "real" world to do something and change the real world so that it somewhat fits the image they want to present to their children, god we'd all be waving olive branches by now.

But a large part is due in part to the fact that the happy-happy-joy-joy world the kids are taught is not the way things are.

I must say that I do consider myself to have been like that. However, the truth wasn't discovered for me through news, or war, or whatnot. It was my peers in class that were assholes to me for no reason. Evenso, not really the reason I'd say for my depression/possible-OCD. But we're all different.

I went through major depression because I despised this world, the real world that I didn't know about, but I couldn't escape it because, well, it's the real world, where would I escape to?

Yeah, I know how you feel. Its probably the reason why I'm drawn to anime that take place in other worlds and why 90% of the stories I come up with have another world of some sort(usually parallel to our own).

You're in school, you learn, learning is hard, you have to study, you have to work at it.

Yeah, but there's downsides to everything. I've always been thankful to be born in America, partly due to the school system here. Our school system is set-up so that while we are learning, we are also socializing, which is absolutely great. Afterall, we are all humans; we need companionship and know how to work with each other.

In Japan, though, their focus is school is work. Its a place to learn; not socialize, which is good in different respects. They're able to get a lot more information and focus on academics BUT they also lose out on that social aspect that we have in America.

Maybe it's because I go to an art college, but I really didn't see/feel too much of a difference between high school and college except that you can't get away with as much. Then again, that's never much of a problem for me since I'm obsessive about getting stuff done on time and never being absent from class even if I'm dying.

However, that doesn't mean you shove away all the "bad" stuff in the world and deceive them with a make-believe world that sooner or later they're going to discover is false.

And I full-heartedly agree, only that's NOT what a LOT of parents think so... *shrugs*

But _you_ don't read you mean. Did you not see the hug long reply I made to your previous fucking comment? And that right below that, me and cavechan debated that exact fucking issue? Retard. Let me say it again for you then:

You not only _can't_ read (it's "can't" fucktard, if I didn't read I wouldn't be in University nor would I be passing my courses), you also can't appropriate convincing arguments to even the most minimal degree.
